Time to sit back, relax, have a cookie as I spill their beans. And trust me, you will not like what you see.
THE BATMAN:
We all knew he was. Whether it was schizophrenia, OCD or anything, we all knew he was crazy in some way or some how. No kid sees his parents die and walks away totally sane. At the bare Minimum, he was traumatized by seeing this happen. Unless you're the villain, you are going to remember this day and make who ever killed your parents (Joe Chill in the case of Batman) pay for what they did. Batman suffers from Survivors' Guilt, which would later on mutate into the Hero Complex. The Hero complex is one of the many syndromes discovered by Carl Jung, a Swiss Psychiatrist. This is a disorder in which a person will set up dangerous situations which can affect the lives around them. These situations are ones that they themselves can solve, making them the Hero. I mean, think about this. When the Joker is pulling of a heist, or murder, he uses lives to hoard in Batman. He almost always let's himself get caught by the Joker, or Riddler or whatever. Then, instead of putting him down once and for all (this is just DC milking it), he throws him into Arkham, a medium security hospital, not Blackgate, a Maximum security PRISON. Get this, He knows Joker will always escape, like 2 hours goes by and he's thrown right back into the place that took him 2 minutes to Bust out of. I'd hate living in Gotham, thanks to him. The Cops are more of Heroes.
THE MAN OF STEEL:
This will blow your mind. He has both the Hero disorder, and another really surprising disorder
Let's start with the Hero Disorder. Superman has this even worse than Batman. He knows how Evil Lex Luthor really is. You guys maybe saying, "But Cyrix! He's never done anything to the people of Metropolis." Wrong! Take Lego Batman 2, yes I'm going there. He uses them, plays them even to get his way. Then, he gets into a Giant Robot after his plan fails (that was one of my least favorite missions) and charges through the city. Destroying cars, buildings, and Metropolings (is that even a thing?). Then, in Superman/Batman Public enemies, Lex Luthor proceeds to kill his guards in prison, not with a kryptonite knife, but a gun. Such a saint right? He knows how evil he is, yet he never puts him in a serious Jail and arrest his associates. Half of the time he let's him get away. If I were him, I'd build my own fortress of Solitude and throw him in it for a couple of DECADES.
But then...he also suffers from masochistic personality disorder, a real disorder that puts yourself into situations in which failure is inevitable (better known as Self Defeating Personality Disorder. It is described in eight ways, in which the Victim must have 5 of those 8
- -chooses people and situations that lead to disappointment, failure, or mistreatment even when better options are clearly available
- -rejects or renders ineffective the attempts of others to help him or her
- -following positive personal events (e.g., new achievement), responds with depression, guilt, or a behavior that produces pain (e.g., an accident)
- -incites angry or rejecting responses from others and then feels hurt, defeated, or humiliated (e.g., makes fun of spouse in public, provoking an angry retort, then feels devastated)
- -rejects opportunities for pleasure, or is reluctant to acknowledge enjoying himself or herself (despite having adequate social skills and the capacity for pleasure)
- -fails to accomplish tasks crucial to his or her personal objectives despite demonstrated ability to do so, e.g., helps fellow students write papers, but is unable to write his or her own
- -is uninterested in or rejects people who consistently treat him or her well.
- -engages in excessive self-sacrifice that is unsolicited by the intended recipients of the sacrifice
Oh, and post what you found up about, like SWORD, HAMMER and STRIKE.
